Le Corbusier

The architect Le Corbusier - real name Charles-Édouard Jeanneret-Gris - was born in La Chaux-de-Fonds in 1887, exactly 125years ago.

He settled in France in 1917. From 1920, “purism” was at the heart of his work. Towards the end of that decade, he began concentrating on the problems of cities.

His work was submitted unsuccessfully for
inclusion on the Unesco World Heritage list in 2011. It is to be resubmitted in 2014.
