The Geneva International Motor Show – popularly known as the “Salon” – is a stage for the global automobile industry to strut its stuff. Sleek supercars vie for attention with eco electric cars and sedate family sedans share space with out-of-this-world concept cars.
At the 85th Geneva International Motor Show at the Palexpo exhibition centre, some 220 exhibitors from around 30 countries will present their automotive offerings over an expanse of over 80,000 square metres. Visitors can ogle around 900 vehicles.
The salon is also a chance for big manufacturers to unveil major innovations and car models. Around 100 premieres are expected this year. Car manufacturers will also be hoping to nab the prestigious “Car of the Year” prize awarded by a jury of car journalists.
Racing fans are in for a treat this year as Swiss watch brand Tag Heuer is hosting a special exhibition of racing cars in partnership with racing giant McLaren. Their 1,000-square-metre stand will feature cars from Formula 1 and Rally, Endurance and Formula E, as well as those from classic car rallies such as Goodwood.
The show runs until March 15.
