Credit Suisse Suspends Trader Amid Alleged Misconduct, WSJ Says
Sept. 2 (Bloomberg) — Credit Suisse Group AG suspended a trader on its European equities sales team amid allegations of misconduct, the Wall Street Journal reported, citing unidentified people with knowledge of the matter.
Zoe Henderson has been suspended since February after being accused of sharing client communications with her husband, an equities trader at Royal Bank of Canada, through electronic chat rooms, the newspaper reported. Henderson has told the bank her actions didn’t penalize clients and were normal practice. Her husband, Toby Henderson, remains in his job and hasn’t been accused of wrongdoing, the Journal said.
Toby Henderson declined to comment to Bloomberg today. His wife couldn’t be reached through Credit Suisse, or located through directory assistance or internet searches. A spokeswoman for the bank in London declined to comment on employee matters under investigation.
The probe also unearthed evidence of other employees on the desk using racist and profane language as well as watching sex videos in the workplace, the Wall Stret Journal said. Henderson had complained in writing about her colleagues’ inappropriate behavior, the newspaper added.
“Any allegations of this nature are taken very seriously at Credit Suisse,” the Zurich-based firm said in a statement to Bloomberg News, referring to the traders’ alleged behavior. “We would have no tolerance for the kind of unacceptable behavior alleged in this account which would be in clear violation of our policies and the high standards we expect of all employees.”
Andrew Davis, who runs the desk, went on leave amid the probe, the newspaper said. Toby Stroh, his lawyer at Druces LLP in London, declined to comment to Bloomberg News. Earlier, he told the Journal his client vigorously denies Henderson’s allegations.
