Serious criminals and lesser offenders receive equal treatment
The 20-year prison sentence handed down at the end of February to the murderer of a 16-year-old au pair from Fribourg has opened up a debate over whether sentencing policy in Switzerland is too lenient. Lucie Trezzini’s killer, Daniel H, could be paroled in 15 years. Even though he’s serving a life term, his prison conditions will be no different to those of inmates serving lesser sentences, as one prison director explains. (SF/swissinfo.ch)
