Federer easily through to Wimbledon semis
Roger Federer has beaten Croatian Mario Ancic 6-1, 7-5, 6-4 in the quarterfinals of the Wimbledon tennis tournament in London.
The world's top-ranked player claimed victory over the 49th-raked Ancic, but not before a two-hour rain delay halted play at centre court at the historic All England Club.
Federer, seeking his sixth Wimbledon title, gave up only one point in his first four games as he breezed through the opening set.
The Croat – who is also a trained lawyer – improved after the rain delay, but not enough to seriously challenge the Swiss, who has won 64 consecutive matches on grass, including 39 in London.
Federer will play either Russian veteran Marat Safin or Spaniard Feliciano Lopez in the semifinals.
