Federer to meet Djokovic in Basel final
Three-time defending champion and world number one Roger Federer beat countryman Marco Chiudinelli 7-6, 6-3, in the semifinal of the Davidoff Swiss Indoors in Basel.
Federer will now face ATP number three seed Novak Djokovic in the final on Sunday.
There was no difference in class to be seen between the two Basel natives in the first set, with Chiudinelli, ranked 73rd, going as far as 4:1 in the tie break.
However, Federer rallied in the second set.
In the other semifinal earlier on Saturday, Djokovic, winner of three titles in 2009, overcame number five seed Radek Stepanek of the Czech Republic to secure his place in the final.
The €1.75 million ($2.58 million) tournament is taking place on indoor hardcourt at St. Jakobshalle in Basel.
