Gearing up Sauber celebrates 25 years in Formula One

By
(Sauber)

Swiss Formula One team Sauber has unveiled its C-36 car, celebrating 25 years in the sport with golden lettering but little in the way of sponsorship branding on the blue and white machine.

The wider and lower car has no carry-over parts from last season, reflecting the new aerodynamic and technical rules that should see faster lap times.

Ferrari-powered Sauberexternal link has only once won a Formula One race, in Canada in 2008 when BMW owned the team. It finished 10th of the 11 teams last season.

Testing starts in Barcelona next week, with the first race of the 2017 season taking place in Australia on March 26.

Peter Sauber started his eponymous F1 team in 1993, having built racing cars under his own name since 1970. It has always been based in Hinwil, canton Zurich.
