Sunday shopping

In 2005, voters decided to modify labour laws to allow Sunday trading at Switzerland's major transport hubs.

Today, for many people, Sunday is a shopping day like any other, though grocery stores in railway stations can be absolutely packed with so many people that it can sometimes be tough to move. In fact, some experts say that shopping – in this case at the main railway station in the capital, Bern – has almost become a religious rite in itself.
