Swiss takes bronze at fencing championship
Michael Kauter has won a bronze medal the European fencing championship in Kiev, Ukraine.
He shares third place in the épée competition with Jean-Michel Lucenay of France and is expected to move up into the top eight ranking ahead of the Beijing Olympics.
The other three Swiss competitors failed to advance to the last stages of the contest which was won by Hungary’s Geza Imre ahead of Martin Schmitt of Germany.
Two weeks ago Kauter won an épée World Cup tournament in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
