A major catering firm operates out of the basement of Zurich's main train station, serving up 18 tons of pasta, half a million sausages, 700,000 sandwiches and more than 100,000 slices of cake and pastries every year.

The Bahnhof Buffet has been run by the same family since 1923. The original first, second and third class restaurants have since morphed into a major catering firm that operates largely out of Zurich station’s basement. In the 1950s, the Buffet was one of the biggest and most successful gastronomy companies in Europe. Today Cadrian Catering’s activities range from take-away to five-star hotels, from traditional restaurants service to franchise operations.
