The week ahead

Political cartoons, solar drones, and a legend brought back to life

Here are the stories we’re following the week of January 4:

A collection of art and artists

As the week begins we look back at the events and issues of 2015 from the perspectives of Switzerland's political cartoonists. On Tuesday we turn to a different kind of artist, and a project involving a special Swiss animal. And on Saturday we get a rare photographic glimpse into the life of Swiss painter and sculptor Alberto Giacometti.

Monetary policy past and present

On Wednesday we turn to fluctuating exchange rates, negative interest, banking secrecy and the bilateral accords. Economics professor Sergio Rossi talks to about what last year's changes mean for this year's economy. Plus, touches on six other issues that remain on the agenda in 2016.

High-altitude pseudo-satellites

"After solar plane, solar drones?" Solar Impulse pilot André Borschberg believes environmental monitoring may be a task for a new generation of solar-powered planes. And he's not the only one. Read about new developments in the field on Thursday.

Bringing a legend back to life

After 15 years of research, planning and renovation, a new museum honouring silent film star Charlie Chaplin is nearing completion. According to the Canadian entrepreneur responsible for the project, Chaplin will be able to "speak for himself". On Friday takes its readers on a tour of the site above the Swiss city of Vevey.
