On the Tina Turner trail in Küsnacht

Rock legend Tina Turner leads a quiet life at her home in Küsnacht on Zurich’s Gold Coast, but she doesn’t completely hide herself away. (SRF/swissinfo.ch)

In fact, she’s helped to bring Christmas cheer to her community by paying for some new festive lights, which cost CHF250,000.

Turner has lived in Küsnacht with German record company executive and husband Erwin Bach since 1994.

They married at their home in 2013, the same year that the star surrendered her American citizenship and became Swiss.

Around 120 guests, including David Bowie, Eros Ramazzotti, Sade, Oprah Winfrey and Giorgio Armani attended the wedding.

Out of consideration for their neighbours, Turner and Bach are said to have sent out letters apologising  in advance for any noise they might cause.

In an advert for telecommunications giant Swisscom, she said, “Switzerland felt like home right away. It’s just perfect. People respect each other’s privacy here, take care of each other”.

Turner takes great care to protect her privacy and rarely speaks to the media, but she is frequently seen around Küsnacht and shops locally.
