Best Swiss Brands 2015 Nescafé keeps top spot in Swiss brand ranking

Nescafé again placed first in the 2015 brand rankings


With three brands in the top 12, food giant Nestlé external linkdominated Interbrandexternal link’s rankings of the Best Swiss Brands 2015. Nescafé, with a value of CHF10.65 billion ($11.15 billion), held on to first place, while Nestlé took third and Nespresso moved up to 12th.

Switzerland’s second-largest pharmaceutical company, Rocheexternal link, ranked second in the list of the top 50 Swiss brands, which was compiled by the consulting company Interbrand external linktogether with the Swiss business magazine BILANZexternal link.

Interbrand reported major fluctuations in brands’ values, with sanitary technology company Gerberit external linkincreasing by 29%, Nespresso by 19% and luxury watchmaker Patek Philippeexternal link by 15%.

“We’re living in turbulent times,” said Interbrand Managing Director Michel Gabriel. “What once took years happens today in months.”

According to Gabriel, by far the greatest success was celebrated by chemical company Sikaexternal link. With a brand value of CHF384 million, the company has returned to the list of the top 50 Swiss brands, in 39th place. The takeover battle with French rival St Gobain has provided ongoing media coverage and thus great brand awareness, he said. In spite of this distraction, in the past 12 months the company has taken over a number of other companies and presented record figures.

“Above all, the company has won recognition, popularity and sympathy due to the consistent stance of its management,” said Gabriel.
