Switzerland’s Olympic committee has said it will back a joint bid from the luxury Alpine resorts of Davos and St Moritz to host the 2022 Winter Games.
Swiss Olympic president Jörg Schild says Davos-St Moritz was chosen over Geneva because their proposal would have a better chance than a city-based bid.
Swiss officials had previously said they wanted a "white" candidate capturing the magic of the mountains, similar to Norway's 1994 Winter Olympics host, Lillehammer.
A formal Swiss bid needs to be approved by the country's sports federations in April.
Switzerland has a proud Alpine sports tradition and seeks to end what will be a 74-year wait for the Winter Games. St Moritz hosted in 1928 and 1948.
