FC Zurich have retained their number one spot at the top of the Swiss national football league despite suffering a setback, with a 3-2 defeat against Aarau on Saturday.

The Bern-based Young Boys seemed unperturbed by the loss of their home stadium, the Wankdorf, on Friday, beating Sion 3-2 in front of a crowd of 10,200 spectators in Neufeld. Their victory puts them in second place in the league.

Meanwhile, over at the Hardturm stadium, St Gallen dropped out of the top-eight in the national league, after suffering a humiliating defeat at the hands of the Grasshoppers, who beat them 6-1. Grasshoppers' Richard Nunez scored half of his team's goals and the team now moves up to take third place in the rankings.

Meanwhile, the game between Lugano and Lausanne was called off after 61 minutes of play because of heavy rain, but not before Alain Gaspoz, Ludovic Magin and René Morf had managed to chip the ball into the net. No date has yet been fixed for the replay.

Finally, Lucerne drew 1-1 against Servette, while Neuchàtel Xamax beat Basel 1-0.
