Roger Federer will face Kazakhstan’s Michail Kukschkin in the first round of Wimbledon, which begins in London on Monday.

The Swiss tennis legend is placed in the opposite half of the draw to world number one, Spain’s Rafael Nadal. Earlier this month, Nadal beat Federer in four sets to win at Roland Garros for the sixth time.

Included in Federer’s half of the draw is world number two Novak Djokovic of Serbia, Sweden’s Robin Soderling who is ranked five, and Spain’s David Ferrer, ranked six.

Federer could meet Djokovic in the semifinals of the grass court grand slam.

Swiss compatriot Stanislas Wawrinka, who is placed in the same half of the draw as Nadal, will face Italy’s Potito Starace in the first round.

Nadal will face the United States’ Michael Russell in the first round. His half of the draw also includes fourth ranked Briton Andy Murray, world number eight Gael Montfils from France, and world number ten Andy Roddick from the US.
