Feuz races to Lauberhorn downhill victory

Feuz clears the Hundschopf on his way to victory in Wengen Keystone

Switzerland's Beat Feuz has won the classic Lauberhorn downhill race as part of the World Cup competition.

Hannes Reichelt of Austria came second ahead of Italy’s Christof Innerhofer and Carlo Janka of Switzerland.

Feuz’s main rivals, American Bode Miller and Swiss skier Didier Cuche finished fifth and fifteenth respectively in Saturday’s event.

The 4.5km Lauberhorn race is the longest downhill event of the World Cup circuit.

Feuz was runners-up in Friday’s super-combined event at Wengen – a downhill and two runs of slalom.

The regular World Cup slalom event in the Swiss alpine resort is scheduled for Sunday.
