Mowag confirmed the news on Thursday after a report appeared in the German edition of the Financial Times. The defence ministry told the paper the order was being rushed through in response to the worsening security situation in Afghanistan.
The contract is expected to be signed this week. This isn’t the first such sale; in 2008, Mowag sold 198 Eagle IVs to Germany.
Mowag is a subsidiary of General Dynamic, a US defence company.
