The 19-year-old Swiss beat American Lindsey Vonn by 0.53’ after a near-flawless run on Sunday. Another Swiss skier, Dominique Gisin, finished third.
“After the last two years, this is really good for me,” Gut said.
She missed the entire Olympic season because of a dislocated hip and recently made the headlines because of a dispute with the Swiss ski federation.
Meanwhile, the Swiss men again failed to convince at the World Cup slalom competition in the Swiss resort of Adelboden.
Silvan Zurbriggen only came tenth in Sunday’s event which was won by Ivica Kostelic of Croatia ahead of two Austrians, Marcel Hirscher and Reinfried Herbst.
Saturday’s giant slalom competition in Adelboden was won jointly by Frenchman Cyprien Richard and Norway’s Aksel Lund Svindal. The best placed Swiss, Marc Berthod, came seventh.
The men’s World Cup circuit now moves to nearby Wengen, where three races, including the Lauberhorn downhill, are scheduled for next weekend.
