Pfadi Winterthur, one of Switzerland's biggest handball teams, have sacked their trainer, Urs Mühlethaler, following a run of bad results.

The club, which won the Swiss title five times in a row between 1993 and 1998 failed to perform last season, despite a promising start. Knocked out in the semi-finals of both the championship playoffs and the Swiss cup, Mühlethaler’s side also suffered a heavy defeat against Germany’s Grosswallstadt in the City Cup.

Pfadi’s management were also unhappy about Mühlethaler’s decision to take charge of the Swiss national side during his time at Winterthur.

The club have already announced his replacement. The side’s former South Korean player, Jae-Won Kang, has been brought back to serve as player-coach.
