Hingis through to quarter-finals in Arizona

Switzerland's tennis star, Martina Hingis, is through to the quarterfinals of the $525,000 tournament in Scottsdale, Arizona.

After a three-week break, the Swiss player cruised to an easy victory against the French player, Stéphanie Foretz, winning 6-2, 6-4.

Hingis, who is the competition’s second favourite, made light work of Foretz who is 147th in the WTA rankings. It was the first time the two women have gone head-to-head.

Hingis will now face Czech player Daja Bedanova in the quarterfinals.
