After defeating Lugano, Kloten are now ranked sixth in the overall league standings, two positions higher than before. Lugano on the other hand remain fifth, behind leaders Davos, Ambri, Zug and Fribourg.

Kloten immediately took control of the game, leading 1-0 at the end of the first period thanks to a goal from Emmanuel Peter. Another goal by Kimmo Rintanen then followed.

Lugano then brought the score back to 2-1, with a goal from Flavien Conne.

Hope for Lugano faded again after another goal by Kloten's Rintanen, but grew again after Christian Dubé put in the second goal for the Ticino team.

Kloten then made clear where the game was headed, scoring three more goals, with the help of Sven Lindemann, Adrian Wichser and Chris O'Sullivan.

Lugano lost their third consecutive match on Tuesday, after being defeated by Rapperswil 5-4 and the Zurich Lions 4-3.
