Language in Switzerland -Patois
Switzerland has three official federal languages, French, German and Italian as well as one semi-official language, Romansch. But it also has dozens of regional variations, ranging form dialects to foreign tongues. In the French speaking part of the country, an ancient blend of Latin, Celtic and French has evolved into Swiss Patois. Swiss Radio International’s, Sally Mules, discovers that although this unusual language has survived through the ages, its existence is now threatened.
