Cuche disappoints in World Cup Super-G
Switzerland's Didier Cuche was the country's best performing skier on Sunday in a World Cup Super-G event at the Canadian resort of Lake Louise. But, he only managed a seventh place finish in a race dominated by Austria's 'Herminat
Cuche finished the race with a time of 1:30:51, nearly one minute slower than Hermann Maier’s triumphant 1:29:53. Norway’s Lasse Kjuss clinched a podium-finish for the second day in a row, placing second (1:30:25).
On Saturday, Switzerland’s Silvano Beltrametti did his country proud with a second-place finish in a World Cup downhill race – also held in Lake Louise – that was won by Austria’s Stephan Eberharter. Kjuss finished third.
However, Beltrametti was clearly no longer in top form on Sunday, placing a disappointing 15th in the downhill. Compatriot Steve Locher finished close behind in 16th position.
Other Swiss skiers, Paul Accola, Bruno Kerner and Franco Cavegn, placed 21st, 24th and 26th respectively.
