Fourth orienteering medal for Swiss

The Swiss men's relay team has earned itself a bronze medal at the Olomouc world orienteering championships in the Czech Republic.

Switzerland – Baptiste Rollier, Matthias Merz and Daniel Hubmann – grabbed third place on Sunday when the leading French team dropped out after losing its last runner to an injury. Britain finished first ahead of the Russians.

For Hubmann, it was the third medal at the competition after winning the title in the long-distance race on Saturday and silver in the sprint event earlier in the week.

The women’s relay finished fourth. Finland won the race ahead of Russia and Sweden.

The Swiss team won four medals at the championships, with Vroni König-Salmi earning a second place in the women’s middle-distance race on Thursday. Switzerland was without its top athlete, multiple world champion Simone Niggli-Luder.
