Lions lose to Kloten in Zurich Derby

Zurich's Martin Kout takes down Kloten's Frederik Nilsson Keystone

Lowly Kloten pulled off an ice hockey upset when they defeated league leaders, Zurich Lions, 4-3 on Saturday. It is ZSC Lions' first defeat in six matches.

The result still leaves the Lions head of the table but now only four points clear of Lugano who beat Rapperswil 4-2 and still have three matches in hand.

After looking second best for the first two periods on Tuesday, the Lions took a 3-2 lead in the final period. But with eight minutes to go 18-year-old Robin Breitbach levelled for Kloten.

Two minutes later an impressive individual goal from Martin Plüss gave the Flyers their first home win over Zurich in seven attempts.

In other matches, Zug beat Ambri 5-2, Fribourg defeated Chur 3-2, Bern and Davos drew 2-2.

La Chaux-de-Fonds earned a much-needed point from their 2-2 draw with Langnau but are still languishing at the bottom of the table.
