The former women’s world number one tennis star, Martina Hingis, married French showjumper Thibault Hutin in Paris on Friday.
The news was broken by the Swiss celebrity news magazine Schweizer Illustrierte, which said the civil ceremony had been a private family affair.
The couple met at a horse show near St Tropez in France in April, the magazine said. Hingis is known for her interest in horses.
According to the SonntagsBlick newspaper, the couple intend to live in Switzerland.
Hingis, now 30, became the youngest ever world number one in 1997, at the age of 16 years and five months. Her career was later dogged by injury, and in 2007 she tested positive for cocaine during Wimbledon. Although she denied using the drug, she said contesting the positive result could take years and she would therefore retire.
