Switzerland's football league leaders, Lugano, are still sitting comfortably at the head of the table, after Tuesday's football produced few surprises. They notched up a 3-0 home victory against lowly Yverdon, and now have 22 points.

Lugano are still four points clear at the top of the table, with Lausanne in second place.

Lausanne won a tight-fought time against Sion, finally notching a 3-2 victory.

St Gallen also maintained their third slot with a 1-0 win at home to Zurich Grasshoppers.

Neuchatel Xamax are firmly rooted at the bottom of the table after losing 3-0 to fellow strugglers FC Zurich. They are one point below Yverdon.

In other games, Basel scored a 1-0 victory away to Aarau to retain fourth place in the league. Mid-tablers Servette were victorious hosts to Lucerne, winning 2-0.
