Baroque. World famous Swiss oboe doyen Heinz Holliger and the renowned Camerata Bern have enjoyed a lenghty, intimate relationship. "Ich hatte viel Bekümmernis" ("I was Much Beset by Care") features their latest collaboration, which is entirely devoted to the genius of Johann Sebastian Bach. This ECM New Series release displays all of the yet known and reconstructed oboe concerts including three sinfonias. Holliger's supernal oboe sound brings out Bach's transcendent intention of the nature of music throughout. The brilliantly corresponding Camerata Bern are to be heard playing with catgut strings and baroque bows. This rendition is truly a must.
