New exhibition pays tribute to rock band

A permanent exhibition has opened in Montreux, honouring the works of the legendary rock band Queen. It covers the band’s sessions at Mountain Studios, where they created most of the tracks for six of their most popular albums. (SRF/swissinfo.ch)

Visitors can see their original lyrics, costumes worn by band members, their instruments and a studio where fans can remix Queen songs.

Montreux has become a place of pilgrimage for Queen fans from all over the world, especially during the annual memorial weekend in September marking Freddie Mercury’s birthday.

In 1996 a three metre high bronze statue of the singer was erected by the lakeside as a tribute to one of the town’s most famous former residents.
