Vent Negru: U sool u nèss tutt i déi
Historic folk music from Ticino. Vent Negru is the name of a mountain wind, which happens to clear cloudy skies over the steep Onsernone Valley near Locarno. This airy force is also eponym of a bardic twosome from this region. Singing multi-instrumentalists Mauro Garbani and Esther Rietschin focus entirely on ancient local music. Their heartfelt renditions reflect upon strenuous pastoral life or the bitter fate vernacular mercenaries once had to face. Many of these pensive, beautiful ballads are thereby careful reconstructions. This melancholy sound gingerly contradicts the sunny cliché of southern Swiss sensibilities.
