Novartis sees 20 per cent profit rise

Basel-based Novartis said revenues rose by 10 per cent Keystone

The Swiss pharmaceutical group, Novartis, has posted record-breaking net profits of SFr1.79 billion ($1.1 billion) for the first quarter, a 20 per cent rise on the previous year.

According to a company statement, revenue also increased by 10 per cent, to SFr7.8 billon, compared to SFr7.22 for the same period last year.
