Police investigate brutal murders at nightclub lodgings
Police in canton Aargau are investigating a "brutal" triple murder in which three women had their throats cut. Their bodies were found inside an apartment in staff lodgings at a nightclub in Wohlen about 30 kilometres from Zurich.
The chief of the criminal investigations branch, Urs Winzenried, said on Wednesday that the killers used brute force when they murdered the three women, who were all foreigners, aged between 30 and 34.
Police are trying to find the murder weapon which they believe was a knife.
Winzenried added that the exact cause of death had not yet been established.
However, the time of the triple murder has been dated as Monday.
One of the victims has been identified as a barmaid at the nightclub "Denise". The others have been linked to the nightclub scene, but have not been conclusively indentified.
Police also have no clear evidence as to the identity of the killers or their motive. They said jealousy or the settling of old scores were the most likely reasons for the killings.
The investigators are currently ruling out sexual assault or armed robbery as the leading motives.
A Swiss man was taken into custody on Wednesday "to help the police with their inquiries," according to Winzenried. He stressed that the man was not yet being treated as a suspect.
The bodies of the women were discovered in the early hours of Wednesday inside the apartment of the "Denise" barmaid. They were found by a colleague at the nightclub, after she failed to turn up for work on Tuesday.
