Everyday survival during war
War as part of our culture, our civilisation – this is the message of the images taken by swissinfo photographer Thomas Kern during long, cold nights and months in Bosnia and the besieged capital, Sarajevo.
It was never the Swiss photographer’s intention to capture war and its horror. He also didn’t want to explain the conflict. His interest has always been people – nameless individuals in their daily fight for survival.
