René Gerber was born in Travers in canton Neuchâtel in 1908. He obtained his diploma at the Zurich Conservatory and finished his studies at the 'Ecole Normale de musique' in Paris, with Paul Dukas and Nadia Boulanger. From 1940 to 1947, he taught music at the Latin College in Neuchâtel, then from 1947 to 1951 was director of the town's conservatory. At this time he co-founded the 'Galerie Pro Arte' in Peseux, which soon moved to Bevaix in Neuchâtel (where the composer still lives today). Double CD.
