BEIRUT (Reuters) - Syrian rebel groups advanced to within 4 km of the government-held city of Hama in a major assault in the western region of Syria on Wednesday, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported.
The assault, spearheaded by the jihadist alliance, got underway on Wednesday.
The Syrian army could not immediately be reached for comment on the Observatory report.
