Police in Corsica and Italy have spent the weekend searching desperately for the missing six-year-old twins from canton Vaud.

On Sunday, the girls’ mother and uncle arrived in Corsica; there they flew over the island in a police helicopter to help with the search efforts.
Joined by Swiss and French police, they focused on the northern part of the island, where the family had vacationed in the past.
During a press conference in Ajaccio on Sunday evening, the mother urged members of the public to call the police if they had seen anything that might help them to find Alessia and Livia.
Witnesses in the Macinaggio area say that they saw the children with a blonde woman. Last week, similar sightings were reported on the southern part of the island.
Two weeks after their abduction, the sisters are feared dead based on the letter left by their father – who killed himself on February 3 in Italy.
However, their mother has not lost all hope and believes that the girls are still alive.
