Knight is the second Swiss to miss out on the chance of playing on the European Tour, after André Bossert failed to make the cut on Sunday during the qualifying tournament in San Roque and Sotogrande in Spain.

Knight, who was born in Britain and who only recently took up Swiss citizenship, finished the final of the qualifying rounds in 69th place.

Only the first 35 players are granted a place on the prestigious European Tour.

Bossert, who has previously played on the European Tour, failed to make the cut after four rounds.

Knight, however, did pass the cut and has already earned the right to take part in the European Challenge Tour next season.
