Snip snap Paper cuts old and new

The Paper Cuts exhibition at the Swiss National Museumexternal link opens the door on the fascinating world of images created from paper. Using scissors and a knife, a silhouette of the image of scene is cut out, in a process requiring immense skill and attention to detail. The exhibition features over 100 contemporary works from a 2012 competition in which participants were asked to produce their take on traditional themes, as well as historical paper cuts. Institutional works explore new dimensions of paper-cutting as a medium.
