The final Swiss snowboarding trials for next year's Winter Olympics have had to be postponed because of poor snow cover and unusually high temperatures in the resort of Grindelwald. This content was published on December 11, 2001 - 10:47
Originally scheduled for this weekend, the second of the two Olympic qualifying events will now be held on the weekend of January 5-6.
The race for Salt Lake City began last weekend in Laax, with reigning Olympic champion Gian Simmen making sure of his place in the freestyle category. Gilles Jaquet and Nagano bronze medallist Ueli Kestenholz also booked spots on the Swiss alpine team.
Therry Brunner and Fabienne Reuteler also did enough in Laax to virtually assure themselves of Olympic places.
