Spanish royals wrap up visit

The king and queen of Spain have ended their two-day state visit to Switzerland and flown back to Madrid.

They spend most of Friday in Lausanne, where the king spent part of his childhood.

Before leaving Bern, the king had breakfast with Swiss President Micheline Calmy-Rey, and met representatives of Swiss industry, including Nestlé, ABB and UBS.

In Lausanne the royal couple visited a museum before meeting representatives of the Spanish community in Switzerland. They held a minute of silence in memory of the victims of Wednesday’s earthquake in southern Spain.

It was King Juan Carlos’ first state visit to Switzerland since 1979.
