Swiss boost bilateral relations with Russia
Justice Minister Eveline Widmer-Schlumpf has held talks with Russian government ministers aimed at boosting cooperation in legal matters.
She and her Russian counterpart, Alexander Konovalov, signed on Monday a renewed cooperation agreement, including a programme for experts on penal systems, according to a statement by the Swiss justice ministry.
The meeting also focused on a justice reforms in Russia and at the European Courts of Human Rights in Strasbourg.
During her three-day visit to Russia, Widmer-Schlumpf also held talks with Russia’s interior minister, Rashid Nurgaliyev, on closer police assistance between the two countries.
It includes a mixed group of experts and the posting of a Russian police attaché in Switzerland.
