Swiss cities rated top for life quality

Zurich, Geneva and Bern have all made it into the top ten cities in the 2010 Mercer Quality of Living survey.

Overall, European cities dominated, with Vienna taking the number one spot for the second year in a row. Zurich and Geneva were placed two and three. Bern took ninth place.

The survey looked at 221 cities in all. Also making it into first five were Vancouver in Canada and Auckland in New Zealand. Baghdad in Iraq came last.

Political, social and economic factors were all taken into account. New this year was an emphasis on the environment.

In these ratings, Bern trounced the other Swiss cities, coming in at 13. Zurich was 19th and Geneva 25th. Canada’s Calgary came out top. and agencies
