Salaries in Switzerland are set to rise on average by 1.9 per cent next year, according to a survey of 130 firms published on Thursday.

Hewitt Associates said that among European countries, Switzerland came at the bottom of the salary increase scale.
In German-speaking countries, Austria led the pack with an anticipated increase of 2.7 per cent next year, with Germany following at 2.5 per cent.
With expected inflation taken into account, real salaries in Switzerland will increase by 1.5 per cent. Only Turkey comes behind Switzerland in this rating.
According to the Global Salary Increase Survey 2009/2010, salary increases would be more or less the same for all levels of staff.
It added that in the past four years, top management had enjoyed higher salary increases than the rest of the staff.
In a separate survey published on Thursday, consultants Towers Perrin expected salaries in Switzerland on average to increase by 2.2 per cent.
