Swiss ice hockey women back among the best
Switzerland's women's ice hockey team have secured promotion to the world's top group with victory in the final of the world B championships.
The Swiss team, coached by Francois Ceretti and Diane Michaud, completed a perfect week on Sunday with a 2-1 victory over Japan in the tournament’s closing match.
A strong start helped Switzerland seal victory with goals from Sandrine Ray and Sandra Cattaneo putting the team 2-0 ahead in the first 12 minutes of the match. Japan pulled themselves back into contention with a goal in the second period, but the Swiss women held on to make sure of top flight hockey after a two-year absence from the world A group.
