Swiss under-20 ice hockey team trounced by US

Swiss goalie Martin Zerzuben comes under pressure from the US players

(Keystone)

The Swiss under-20 ice hockey team have suffered a convincing defeat at the hands of the United States in the junior world championships being held in Moscow.

The junior team were playing for fifth spot in the championships, but lost out to the US 4-0. The Swiss found it difficult to tap into their own rhythm and technical skills while playing against the physical power of their adversaries.

The Swiss have had to settle for sixth place.

The Swiss team were knocked out of the quarterfinals by the Czech Republic, but then went on to beat the Russian hosts to set up the match with the US.
