swissinfo videos now on YouTube

swissinfo is starting its own channel on YouTube, the world's most popular online video portal. Starting today, it enables the international voice of SRG SSR idée suisse to make its own content available internationally via YouTube, thereby expanding its online video offering.

Bern, 18 July 2007

More and more people are searching the internet for specific film footage. In response to this demand, swissinfo/SRI has launched its own channel featuring selected videos about Switzerland and the Swiss. YouTube surfers can view, rate and comment on these videos and recommend them to their friends. They can even upload their own video responses and chat to other viewers about what they have seen.

New content every week

The video features produced by swissinfo journalists can be accessed from around the world at http://www.youtube.com/swissinfovideosExternal link. They are mainly original reports and background information on Swiss society, environment, arts, education, research and tourism. The English-language selection will be updated weekly, and there are plans continuously to expand the swissinfo/SRI offering in other languages, too.

YouTube, founded in February 2005, is the leader in online video, and the premier destination to watch and share original videos worldwide through a web experience. YouTube allows people to easily upload and share video clips on www.YouTube.com and across the internet through websites, mobile devices, blogs, and e-mail. YouTube has struck numerous partnerships with content providers such as CBS, BBC, Universal Music Group, Sony Music Group, and swissinfo.
