Switzerland acts as magnet for German managers

Good pay and tax conditions are attracting Germans to top jobs in Switzerland, according to a study published on Monday.

The online career service for professionals, Experteer, and a British market research company said that nearly one in four Germans who left to pursue their career abroad chose Switzerland.

After Switzerland came Britain (nine per cent) and Austria (eight per cent).

“German professionals don’t trust going too far from home to further their careers but go to a country where they understand the language and culture,” said the head of Experteer, Christian Göttsch.

The study added that most German professionals who worked abroad were in consulting (15 per cent), IT (11 per cent) and the banking and finance sector (eight per cent).

The survey was carried out between March 2007 and March 2008.
