Monday-Thursday

In the third week of the autumn session, the Swiss parliament will discuss issues ranging from the strong Swiss franc to energy and climate change. Stay tuned for the debate results.

Zurich film festival

Thursday

This year Arnold Schwarzenegger and Kiefer Sutherland are just two of the household names who will pick up awards at the Zurich Film Festival, which starts on September 24 and runs until October 4 in Switzerland’s biggest city. Last year the festival – which began in 2005 – attracted 79,000 visitors. German-language movies will be screened alongside documentaries and small-budget films in a number of languages from established and emerging directors.

More than 150 world leaders – including Swiss President Simonetta Sommaruga and Foreign Minister Didier Burkhalter – will attend the United Nations Sustainable Development Summit in New York from September 25 to 27. On the agenda is the adoption of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the successor to the Millennium Development Goals.
