Bern's Young Boys are still top of the football's league, despite a humiliating defeat against St Gallen. In the day's other matches, Zurich and Sion ended in a goalless draw, while Aarau trounced Lugano 3-1.

The result leaves Young Boys just ahead of its nearest rivals at the top of the table. The Bern side managed just one goal in a disastrous away match against St Gallen. The home side hit the back of the net four times, leaving them just one point behind Young Boys in the overall standings.

Zurich and Sion, both equally ranked, proved evenly matched, and now look likely to fall behind Grasshoppers, who will have a chance to better their ranking when they take on laggers Neuchatel Xamax on Sunday.

Aarau is just one point behind Lugano, after its impressive performance against the Swiss Italian side.

In Sunday’s other match, Basel and Lucerne battle it out on the lower rungs of the league. On Monday, Lausanne Sports will try to better its ranking by taking on Servette.
